English Dub Review: Trillion Game “Haru Unrivaled”

OVERVIEW (SPOILERS)

Trillion Game’s poaching of a game developer gets the attention of Kirika’s father, Kazuma.

OUR TAKE

Haru is back in the spotlight as he starts trying to court talent with his new stake in God Productions! And true to form, he is pulling long con after long con in order to orchestrate the perfect moment that will hook willing talent. Bringing mouth wash of all things (complete with off brand listerine bottle) and paying a bartender to spill some wine on an actress’ blouse so Haru can swoop in and save the day with his weird cleaning remedy. As many have pointed out, including Haru himself, he will make friends with anyone in order to get the most use out of them. What his long term plans for God Productions are unclear at the moment, aside from making a ton of money which is always his immediate goal, but whatever he is up to, he is working hard to achieve it. And we’ve got nine more episodes to go for the season so he’s certainly got plenty of time to build up to it. But unfortunately for him, the consequences of his risky decisions are blowing back on some of his own team, at least for the moment. They could pull it around but for now let’s just focus on how they’re dealing with it now.

Remember how he used all two million yen of his company’s cash to buy controlling stake in God Promo? Well, Trillion Game is now up shit creek without it, needing to put up their stock as collateral and PRAY TO GOD, BUDDHA, AND CTHULU that it does not dip below a certain value or else they are FUCKED with a capital -UCKED. This is especially worrisome for their new game designer who I keep forgetting the name of because now not only can HE not get paid, but NO one can and therefore no games can be made. Even worse, Kirika’s revealing of the designer and his poaching by Gaku have reached the ears of her father Kazuma, who is ready to basically go to war to crush these annoyances before they get too much of a problem! Wow, that really sets up some tension to deal with down the line! Then again, this episode starts with another flash forward to when Gaku is super stankin’ rich and that game designer is with them, so…tension completely gone, I guess! But whatever, let’s just keep going and pretend those scenes don’t exist until they actually matter.

Error happened.
