Review: American Dad “The Clearview Hotel”
Overview
Francine and Roger become addicted to peeping in on people at a mysterious motel.
Our Take
Ironically legendary filmmaker David Lynch would leave us last week and we get by far the most David Lynch-like episode of American Dad’s 21st season which only nine episodes left before the finale.
I say David Lynch earlier, but really it would be like if David Lynch directed Interstellar but opted to change most of the script that only he would enjoy because this one goes deep on dark dimensions and the third acts for a lot of these types of American Dad episodes (other examples being “Rabbit Ears“) have been getting increasingly more twisted and I am here for it. This series has shown that it can do high-concept episodes time and time again and really nail it and is the kind of episode that has be thankful that American Dad is on TBS and not FOX because FOX doesn’t really like shit like this where things get almost too much like Twin Peaks or Twilight Zone.
Director Jennifer Graves really nails the shadowy animation sequences with the lighting that works really well with the intricately produced backgrounds just adds extra layers to a show that has no business doing so but am more than happy and appreciative that they did. Sam Brenner gives us a harrowing script and how about some extra kudos to Wendy Schaal as “Francine” who has added so much depth to her character over the years.
A real quality diamond of an American Dad episode that the universe decides to land perfectly near days after a very sordid week in America, here’s hoping this series never goes away.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
