Review: Bob’s Burgers “Advice Things Are Ad-nice”

Overview

Tina becomes the new advice columnist for the school newspaper; Teddy volunteers to build a float for the Bounty of the Bay Parade.

Our Take

Teddy works on a float for a parade and we deal with another newspaper bit for Tina. On the surface it may seem as though the last new episode of Bob’s Burgers for 2024 is ordinary fare, and for the most part it is, but director Ryan Mattos’ directing in this week’s episode deserves extra flowers for not only the quick cartoon shorts that Ted dreams up when talking about the float but notice the shadowing and effects being exhibited during Louise and Linda’s late-night blog sessions. Really, swell work there by one of the franchise’s more dependable directors in a group of already very dependable directors.

Longtime writer now co-showrunner Holly Schlesinger has been around the block with Bob’s Burgers for over a decade now and it shows in the episode writing for this one, a very paint-by-numbers episode that really doesn’t reinvent the wheel for Bob’s Burgers but still makes for a solid wheel that keeps the engine running in the right direction.

This week’s episode of Bob’s Burgers may not be one of the special options on the chalkboard that is the season thus far that has already had a few very strong episodes, but we still get a solid meal of an episode that should satiate fans and viewers alike.
