English Dub Review: Demon Lord 2099 “Cybermagic City Akihabara”

Overview:

Hizuki Reynard-Yamada heaves another deep sigh in class at the Akihabara Private School of Magic “Lu Xel”. Meanwhile, Veltol defeats Marcus and safely rescues Machina. What he seeks next lies somewhere in Akihabara City…

Our Take:

I was wondering when we would get some typical high school shenanigans. Most anime have something to do with it so I’m not surprised. I hope we don’t spend too much time with the school arc because I love the V-tuber/lovey-dovey life that’s currently happening. Veltol and Machina are so cute together I love it, the fact that she wants sushi but doesn’t want to say it to him was one of the cutest parts of this episode.

It’s fascinating that Veltol has played so many dating sims and watched a bunch of anime that he now thinks he knows everything about Japanese high school life. I’ve watched a ton of anime myself and if I had to suddenly start attending a school there I wouldn’t be that confident.

Sarah Wiedenheft and Ian Sinclair have amazing chemistry in this show. This comes through in their characters Machina and Veltol. Perhaps I’m a little over-concerned about this upcoming arc and it will lead to some great developments between them. I’m worried it will turn into a harem and I hope those concerns are unfounded.
