OUR TAKE
This month is another brief trip to Big City Greens, this time with their Thanksgiving themed episode…and also one about going to an antique store. As always, even if I’m not a regular viewer of this show, it has never failed to be entertaining, and this episode is no exception. The Thanksgiving episode in particular is actually extra wholesome if you’re even passingly familiar with the show and its characters. Specifically, if you’re aware that Cricket and Tammy’s parents, Bill and Nancy, are divorced for the entirety of the series, then it’s sweet that they can spend Thanksgiving together and show that their family is still together even if one specific relationship didn’t end up fully lasting. That said, given that specific episode is about Cricket and Bill hiding that they ruined Nancy’s turkey that she worked really hard on, I would not blame her at all if she decided to cut both of them off and go no contact following that holiday. But this is a Disney show, so everyone forgives by the end of it.
Then there’s the episode about going to an antique store and it’s fine. It’s a fun regular episode with no real notable aspects. I guess it’s neat they got Billy West to play Nancy’s dad, so he can put his slowly aging voice to use on an older character, as opposed to Futurama where his raspiness is becoming increasingly distracting every time he voices Fry, the perpetually twenty something guy who is technically almost in his fifties now. Though I suppose the fact that they can make a late addition to the cast work like that is a testament to how well Big City Greens has been at balancing its cast in its nearly seven years on the air. Though part of that may be because the releases of new episodes are incredibly sporadic (this season started in September of last year after all), so who knows how many episodes they made so they can throw out a handful every year. I guess we’ll see in our next review of the show which will be coming some time soon!
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
