English Dub Review: Blue Lock “Flow”
Overview:
The tryouts are complete, and Isagi is chosen for the starting lineup. But Shidou is nowhere to be seen… It turns out Sae has picked him to join the U-20s. Meanwhile, Ego begins the final training camp, where he discusses the secret of “flow.”
Our Take(Possible Spoilers):
This show has been all over the place and can’t decide how long it wants to spend on a certain aspect. But as of now it seems like where we are headed is going to be interesting. Ego has decided who’s going to be on the team to face off against the U-20s. Isagi made the cut but Ego’s reasoning was interesting to me. He explained that he wanted Isagi on the team because he could bring a reaction out of Rin. I understand where he’s coming from but it seems like the story started as trying to find the best striker, or egoist, a player who only cares about scoring. But now it seems like they’re trying to put together a team with all of these guys.
I don’t have a problem with that per se but it does seem like what made this show unique among sports anime is being lost. It hasn’t quite gone into “power of friendship” territory but that is my concern. None of these guys would normally have any problem throwing one of their friends under the bus if it means success but now it feels… different. Isagi’s relationship with Rin is what got him a spot on the team. But it could be fun, we’ll just have to see.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
