English Dub Review: Seirei Gensouki: Spirit Chronicles “My Home, Under Attack”

Overview

Rio returns to the Village of the Spirits with a request. While he’s there, Latifa has a quiet moment with him. Elsewhere, Liselotte goes to Sakata with an invitation to a royal party. Meanwhile, Miharu and the others are attacked by monsters!

Our Take

This time around, Rio makes an important return to the Spirit Folk Village to seek help for Miharu and her friends. As Rio reconnects with familiar faces, we get to see some lighthearted and emotional moments, especially with Latifa, who continues to be a key character. At the same time, the rest of its proceedings provide insights into the relationships between the village characters, while also expanding on the ongoing world-building and Rio’s internal struggles.

The rest of the episode also shifts focus to developments happening elsewhere, involving key figures in the kingdom, adding layers of political intrigue. There’s also a growing sense of connection between characters from different backgrounds, as past-life memories play an increasingly important role.

Overall, this episode delivers a balanced mix of action, suspense, character growth, and world-building. Rio’s journey continues to evolve, with growing challenges both personal and external. And the connections between other characters have potential room for growth with the way it ended.
