English Dub Review: I Parry Everything “I Parry the Emperor’s Authority”

Overview (Spoilers Below):
Noor and his team take on a battle that will decide the future of the Crays Kingdom.

Our Take:
So, as it turns out, the “mighty” Deridas was actually a massive chicken when he confronted Noor’s intimidating appearance.  However, from this episode’s flashback, Noor’s monstrous face was actually him smiling while exhausted from all the parrying he did.  I don’t blame Deridas.  I would be terrified, too, if I saw Noor’s “grin”, but I digress.  But, of course, Deridas’s retreat was just the beginning of Noor’s final fight of the season, as he and his allies prepare to take the battle to Deridas’s Imperial Capital.  Fortunately, they also receive additional help from the Sovereign Six, a group of powerful warriors who happened to be Noor’s instructors from the adventurer training schools.  Oh, and the Dragon of Calamity that got blasted out of the sky in the previous episode is still alive, which is good because they’ll need more firepower than they can get.
I said this because Noor is overwhelmed by the fatigue from parrying too much and his fear of heights.  Despite having surpassed the Sovereign Six long before his adventure with Lynne began, Noor still hasn’t mastered the ability to rest at the appropriate time, especially when Deridas plans to launch a counterattack.  I will say that this episode did something right in its narrative compared to the previous ones: adding the stakes of its protagonist.  While Noor is quite powerful with his parrying and low-level skills, they usually come with the cost of him being overly exhausted.  The episode also did pretty well in expanding the Sovereign Six and their roles in Noor’s adventuring progress, thanks to their appearances, which is enough to move past the show’s monster-of-the-week narrative from previous episodes.
