English Dub Season Review: Jujutsu Kaisen Season Two
Overview:
The second season of Jujutsu Kaisen animates the long-awaited Shibuya Incident Arc.
Our Take:
I’m going to have a bit of a hard time with this review because I understand that this is a good show even though it might not be for me. If you have read any of my episodes reviews you might have seen how I feel like the main issue I have with this series might stem from how it’s marketed. The manga of Jujutsu Kaisen is a part of the Shonen Jump publication which definitely has some darker series but for the most part, there is some hope in them, and as of right now that is not the case with Jujutsu Kaisen.
I understand why this arc was so anticipated because there was a lot that happened. One thing that confused me a bit is the first few episodes were a flashback to when Gojo and Geto were younger and the only reason I can think that it needed to happen was to show the relationship between the two and to establish why Geto hates humans.
Even if I didn’t enjoy the way the story went, the fight scenes remained top-notch. Mappa has been in the news a lot lately and for reasons that they would probably rather not be. So I hope for better conditions for the animators because with the talent they showcase in this series alone, I can only imagine what they could do if they were given adequate time and rest.
Jujutsu Kaisen has become astronomically popular and I can see why. It delivers awesome animation and characters that we love and care about. The only problem is it seems they know we love those characters and subsequently kill a good chunk of them off. I watched Game of Thrones so I can respect a show like that but I think I just wasn’t expecting it and that’s more a me thing. I understand the impact this series has and I can tell this will be a classic anime from this era ten to twenty years from now.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
