English Dub Review: A Returner’s Magic Should Be Special “Comrades”
Overview
Desir is placed in the beta class despite his test result, and so is Romantica, even though she’s a noble. Desir finds Pram, another new student from the beta class, and invites Romantica to join his party.
Our Take
Picking up from the previous episode, the academy faculty and staff assemble talk about student placement after the Shadow Realm results. And despite their stance on relegating all commoners to the beta class, Brigitte strongly recommends Desir to be upgraded Alpha class. The results are out for the other students and Romantica is surprised to find out she also made the cut to beta class. And after her first day, she’s even invited by the alpha class student Doneta Hadoon to join his party but is apprehensive to join when Doneta wants to make this a private date. Afterward, Desir approaches Romanica with a request to join his party and leaves her with a private letter.
Later on, Desir takes an interest in another beta class student named who is this blue-haired short kid named Pram Schnaizer (another comrade Desir fought with in his previous timeline), while Pram proceeds to have a sparring match with a random student. Pram is known for his fast strikes mostly with a one-handed sword, but this time he uses something else which doesn’t really work in his favor. After the match, Desir and Romantica talk in private regarding the letter, and Desir reveals Romantica’s past that for some reason Desir somewhat knows about that she never told anyone. With Desir having formed a party with Pram and Romantica he’s determined to get his foot in the door by making a party and show what’s possible for the talented commoners out there so they can both improve & stand up against the upcoming future dangers.
Overall, a decent episode that manages to introduce another core character in the cast, while further establishing some lore with several characters. Desir already made quite an impression and passed his exam. However, it’s kinda sad knowing their society has a hierarchy system going on where nobody gets equal treatment. Unfortunately for Desir, that also meant that he got lower treatment compared to the upper class. And while the scene with Desir and Romantica was kinda irksome, but at the very least, the audience knows everything that Desir is doing. Let’s see what other directions this could take…
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
