English Dub Review: Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation “These Feelings”

Overview:

Rudeus settles into a new routine at the university. But as time passes, Silent Fitz is increasingly in his thoughts. What does he really feel for his enigmatic classmate? And how far will he pry into a friend’s secrets to find out?

Our Take:

For being a reincarnated person I have to say that Rudeus handled all of this very maturely. He decided that he was in love with Silent Fitz and instead of some dumb internal monologue where he says “No I’m not gay!” he just calmly analyzes the fact that he has feelings for a man and comes to terms with it. I mean sure it turns out that Fitz is a girl but I still thought it was a big moment for him to come to that realization.

Not only that but after he and Fitz had a collision he discovered that he had been “cured”. By that I mean he got an erection. I can’t recall an anime character being so excited to get an erection but hey go him I guess. He still hasn’t figured out that Silent Fitz is his childhood friend Sylphie but once he does It’s on. It’s a little annoying that the same trope was being done to the same character but oh well.
