English Dub Review: Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation “The Fiancé of Despair”

Overview:

Love is in the air. First, a smitten classmate seeks Rudeus’s help to meet the girl of his dreams. Then the beast people’s mating season puts Rudeus in an awkward position—one he’ll have to fight his way out of.

Our Take:

There was so much to unpack in this episode but the first thing I want to talk about is Cliff Grimoire. First of all, Ry McKeand has a great voice for the character and I think they are going to be a great up-and-coming VA. Second, Cliff falling in love with Elinalise has got to be one of the most baller moves ever. Not only that but he doesn’t bat an eye at the fact that she sleeps around like a lot. Once he finds out it’s a curse he vows to do all in his power to get rid of it for her because his love is that true.

The other big piece of this episode was Linia and Pursena making all challengers for their hand in marriage go through Rudeus. He was going to have a lot of people to fight through until the demon king Badigadi showed up and defeated them all. Rudeus managed to defeat him with a very powerful “bullet” spell that was a sight to behold. Badigadi was so impressed with Rudeus that he decided to enroll in the school. The special student’s class just got a whole lot more interesting.
