English Dub Review: Liar, Liar “Heroes and Tricks”

Shinohara enters the MTCG to get back into ASTRAL and to find out who the doppelgänger is.

Our Take:

Shinohara enters a side contest called the MTCG. The winner gets a wild card, which grants them entry back into ASTRAL. He easily wins it and he makes it to the final boss. It’s somebody that he’s been acquainted with over the past few days. This same person is also Miss Hundred Faces, another name for the doppelganger.

Everything about this episode feels underwhelming. I think the show might be losing its charm on me because I don’t find this game to be exciting at all. The explanation doesn’t help me understand it and it’s boring to watch.

The doppelganger reveal is also pretty underwhelming. It’s predictable and I’m not really fond of the character in general. I just hope the inevitable final battle between the doppelganger and Shinoara will be more exciting than this one.
