Obituaries: King Of The Hill Legend Johnny Hardwick Passes Away at 64
There are no words to describe the impact Johnny Hardwick has had on adult animation. His iconic role as “Dale Gribble” is synonymous with fans all around the world who have grown up with King of the Hill either when the show was having its initial run on FOX, or the numerous syndicated runs the series has had on FXX, Adult Swim, and Comedy Central.
It was reported earlier today by Deadline that Hardwick passed away at the age of 64 at his Austin, TX home on August 8th. Hardwick was a part of over 100 episodes of the OG King of the Hill and was expected to reprise his role in the upcoming Hulu reboot slated to come in 2024. Johnny Hardwick will be sorely missed.
There's got to be some kind of twist that's going to happen with this. I don't know if they're setting up an April Fool's joke now or what's going on, but it seems too strange that they'd suddenly reverse on doing a fourth and fifth season after the show was already renewed and they were even just talking about working on those seasons like a couple months ago or something. Or maybe the two episodes yet to release will secretly somehow each be like a "season" in themselves?
