English Dub Review: Heavenly Delusion “The Walled Town”

OVERVIEW (SPOILERS)

The kids meet up again with Juichi, who needs their help to find his son that may have escaped from the slave camp. Eventually they find a settlement of escaped men, along with a spider man-eater than can freeze their surroundings. They soon realize the one creating the cold is actually Jugo, Juichi’s son. Juichi stays behind to raise him and gives them the van, but then kills the guy who raised the alarm back when he escaped. Back at the academy, more children show up while Tokio deals with the pregnancy.

OUR TAKE

And that wraps up the Juichi part of the show, I guess. I wasn’t exactly expecting him to show up again, let alone this soon, but it’s better than leaving it hanging. I’m pretty sure the main thing it added was getting a look at yet another darker side of life after the end of the world. Which is fine and all, but we’ve already seen a bunch of dark shit throughout this entire series thus far, so it’s not like this part is really going to stick out amongst all that. At this point, I’m more interested in our dynamic duo finally finding the academy grounds, or learning more about what’s happening with Tokio’s weird pregnancy. We do check in about that and see some more kids arriving at the facility, but that’s about for this week. To be clear, it’s not that I’m not finding the events happening interesting, it’s just that this is not as easy to come up with things to talk about week to week until we get a major plot development. And given that we’re down to the final three episodes, it’s looking like we’ll be zeroing in on that for the remainder of the season.

So, since I’m frankly bored of talking about Juichi and his escaped man slaves, let’s use the remaining space for this week to speculate on what’s to come. As probably mentioned before, we’re probably gonna hit some sort of milestone with the kids in Hell finally making it to the academy, either before the final episode OR maybe even in the final minutes of said episode. Heck, if they wanted to be real cruel, they could have them arrive on the outskirts of the facility right as the kids at the academy are on their way out, probably because of some sort of escape where they try to get Tokio out or something. Then again, not even she seems that attached to the baby so she’s probably fine with just getting it out and letting it be a test subject, at least for now. We’re just kinda up in the air about all of this, even this far into the show, which is fine since this definitely feels like a slower burn. I just wish I had more to talk about week to week, but maybe I’ll get my wish in the next few weeks. Or maybe not!

Error happened.
