English Dub Review: Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War “The Drop”

Overview:

Squad Zero brings Ichigo back to the Royal Palace to prepare for the coming battle; Kyoraku is appointed as the new head captain to lead the Thirteen Court Guard Squads.

Our Take:

Where to begin with this one… we have a lot of aftermath of the battle to deal with and then you have Ichigo and Renji trying to heal up and get stronger. I was a little surprised that Kyoraku was chosen to be the next head captain but he does seem a lot more serious now and who wouldn’t be after what transpired? But we have to talk about Unohana and Zaraki which means there will be a couple of spoilers in the next paragraph.

Unohana was one of the original Thirteen Court Guard Squad captains and for good reason. She was the first ever to use the name “Kenpachi” and she has a whole other side to her that we didn’t know about. Reveals like this are both interesting but in some ways ruin past seasons. What I mean IS that if Unohana was this powerful what stopped her from ending Aizen or any of the other past threats with ease? There will probably be a reason but someone who legitimately scares Zaraki is someone you don’t want to mess with.
