English Dub Review: Rent-a-Girlfriend “Ex and Girlfriend”

Overview:

Kazuya wakes up with the worst hangover and struggles with his fragmented memories. Meanwhile, someone finds out about his workplace and decides to make an appearance…

Our Take:

I don’t drink very often by any means but I have never been so drunk that I couldn’t remember something or thought that I hallucinated something. So, the fact that he thought Chizuru being with him was a hallucination was kind of weird. But coming from Kazuya I’m not surprised that dude is dumb. So dumb in fact that I kind of want Mami to blow up everything.

Speaking of Mami, there is something about her voice actress I really like. Laura Stahl is a VA I have heard a lot but usually, she voices boyish characters. I love her as Mami, how she can go between the cheerful and then yandere voice tones in an instant. One of the first VAs I have noticed on this show which is even more impressive because I couldn’t tell it was her at first.

This show is a train wreck waiting to happen but it never wrecks. Which is the only fun part about a train wreck if you get what I’m trying to say. When you find yourself rooting for the “villain” I think that tells you a lot. Let it wreck! Anyways, see you guys next week.
