English Dub Review: The Executioner and Her Way of Life “Pandemonium”

Overview (Spoilers Below):
What are the consequences of an Executioner failing to eliminate her target? For Menou and Akari, the answer is more terrible than anything they could have imagined.

Our Take:
The stakes are higher than ever before for our favorite executioner. She may have stopped Manon from using more monstrine, but her problems are just beginning. Menou’s final opponent of the season is none other than the Human Error, Pandemonium, who’s possibly one of the most creepy-ass antagonists in anime history. You’ll know what I mean if you’ve seen the previous episode.
The entirety of this episode sees Menou battling Pandemonium and finding a way to shut her up for good. Thankfully, Princess Ashuna arrives in time to help her contain Pandemonium with a powerful spell. But unfortunately, Pandemonium has the ability to clone herself, making things twice as difficult and annoying for our heroes.
I mentioned in the last episode that despite Pandemonium’s terrifying personality, her voice in the English dub did not work well for me. I mean no disrespect to her voice actress, Juliet Simmons, as she was given the task to provide a 10-year-old girl’s creepy voice into a monstrous Human Error and accomplished it effectively. It’s just that I don’t know if I can survive any more of her irritating voice. The only upside to her is that she loves movies as much as I do, as she plots to make a real-life horror movie, with Menou and her allies as her victims. Thankfully, there’s only one episode left in the season, so here’s hoping that Menou will finally find a solution to kill her.
Additionally, the episode reveals that Akari is the main reason for Pandemonium’s release. Her constant resets in the timeline caused the fog wall to weaken, allowing the little monster to escape. Even worse, Akari’s attempts to be killed by Menou will be impossible because of the interference from powerful beings like Flare having access to the Astral Archive. If you think that’s bad, there’s also a giant monster from the fog prison attacking Libelle. Man, this episode is something else.
Aside from Pandemonium’s intolerable voice and CGI monster form, the second-to-last episode did its part in introducing me to its endgame. It’s packed with some acceptable surprises, especially the ones involving Akari. The battle sequences and spells also made solid use of its animation like in the previous episodes. What awaits us in next week’s thrilling finale, with Menou and Ashuna making a final stand against one of the Human Errors? I’m willing to bet it’s the death of Pandemonium.
