With the adults out for the night, Bobby and Carlota take turns watching the kids and going to a party.


Our Take

While the entire first episode delves into a very topical issue regarding how the copyright system works to a younger audience and the amount of effort Carl makes to meet each member of an old singing trio from the ’70s. Much of the plot is spent on comedic set-pieces, but at the very least there’s actual motivation behind Carl’s actions. Along with a decent twist near the end which emphasizes how small this show’s universe is, but the ending was OK.

As for the second episode, a lot of the jokes revolve around situational comedy as it’s surprising how both Bobby and Carlotta uphold to committing to their vow of switching between each other periodically at this particular party they both just so happen to partake, even when things become a bit of a confusing mess.

These were both passable episodes. The first one was simply a string of coincidences for how contrived the proceedings felt, but at least the heart of the story was in a proverbial sense, about mending fences with the people who wronged you. Even if Carl himself had ulterior motives as to why. While the other episode excelled in terms of character progression and showed that despite how selfish Bobby and Carlota come across, they both do show a genuine sense of responsibility when faced with particular obstacles together.
