Deadpool creator Rob Liefield is still miffed at Disney putting the pre-emptive axe to the highly-anticipated Deadpool animated series coming from Donald and Stephen Glover to FXX. Here’s what Rob said in a recent interview with Collider:
“What I don’t really understand is, given the audience, why isn’t there a Deadpool cartoon yet? Like, I don’t understand that. Right? That was a gut punch,”

Our Take
It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to see all of the creatives leaving the Disney auspices in almost every major facet. The likes of Seth MacFarlane, Ryan Murphy, JJ Abrams, and Shonda Rimes have all left Disney for a variety of big dollar deals while others like James Gunn have noted they have no plans of returning to Disney after his contractual obligations have been completed.
On the Marvel side of things, Hulu has been purged of almost every one of the adult animated series that were coming due to mostly creative differences though the streaming service continues to produce excellent non-Marvel adult animation. FX Networks is continuing to look for an adult animation counterpart to Archer who has a delayed season 11 on it’s hands whilst we gorge on the hybrid series Cake which is airing new episodes on Thursday Nights only on FXX.
