We Rank the Five Shorts from Rooster Teeth’s “Anim Jam”
4) Lunar Farms: Farmer’s Log
Our next short gets a bit more sci-fi, showing one Dr. Luna living on her own farm on the moon, which is apparently “the envy of every astral agriculturist”, at least according to the description. However, she’s also doing this all by herself, completely isolated from everyone else (boy do I know the feeling right now) and decides to build herself a friend by giving one of her robotic farm hands feelings. The scene we see primarily focuses on the robot, named “Robot” in the credits, fully awakening to his new found sense of The Feels and Luna walking him through the process of friendship.
This feels a bit like stuff pulled from Nomad of Nowhere, what with the inanimate object becoming a sentient being and learning friendship and all, but it also means it can potentially pull on the heartstrings quite a bit. What little we see in this does show us what would be the heart and likely thematic core of the series that might come from this, but not very much beyond that. I understand that these aren’t meant to be full pilots, but I can’t help but find myself wishing that we could get a look at how the farm worked, what made it such a scientific marvel, and how Luna’s work might now be impacted by this decision to give one of her tools person hood. I suppose it’s a good sign when my main complaint is that I wish I could see more, but that also comes from the fact that I don’t have enough to really get behind it.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
