English Dub Review: If My Favorite Pop Idol Made It to the Budokan, I Would Die “I Want You in My Future”
Overview (Spoilers Below)
As the Christmas holidays begin, Eripiyo’s friends have their own plans while Eripiyo herself has ulterior motives for helping Maina, While in a separate subplot, The Chamjam Idol group is going through their own in-fighting drama but attempts to keep a happy face before their audience.
Our Take
I know it’s part of the business, and while flirting is often used as a perfection (See gentleman’s clubs and strip-joints) I can’t unsee those scenes when you can clearly see how the Idol girls within ChamJam are manipulating lonely otaku men by giving them a delusion of mutual love and feelings just to sell more merch and don’t lose “clients” aka fans. You can make the argument that this is how every Idol’s life looks, but it still leaves a bitter taste in your mouth and feels like a fake form of positive feedback to the very people who are supposed to matter in their success.
Overall, I think what manages to sort-of save this episode is the timeless moral message that as Bruce Almighty so simply put it Being “the Miracle” since that’s what Eripiyo sort-of does to show her love for Maina, and by-extension Chamjam for showing that they have some level of love back to their fans even if half the time they’re potentially faking it before an audience.

There's got to be some kind of twist that's going to happen with this. I don't know if they're setting up an April Fool's joke now or what's going on, but it seems too strange that they'd suddenly reverse on doing a fourth and fifth season after the show was already renewed and they were even just talking about working on those seasons like a couple months ago or something. Or maybe the two episodes yet to release will secretly somehow each be like a "season" in themselves?
