TMS Entertainment Sends Lupin OVA Special to Toonami ; Announces “Detective Conan” English Dub Premiere
The fifth season of Lupin the 3rd is nearly wrapped for it’s English dubbed run on Toonami, but not without a send-off to remember the legendary Monkey Punch first. Set to premiere on December 14th @ 3 am ET/PT only on Adult Swim, will be the all-new OVA “Is Lupin Still Burning?” an anniversary special that is essentially a remake of the very first episode of the series, titled “Is Lupin Burning?”. It was released on Part 5’s DVD boxset.
In the episode, while Lupin partakes in a dangerous race, Fujiko splits off from him to steal a gold statue, only to be captured by Mister X, who has a plan to finally destroy her and Lupin once and for all…
In related English dub news, Detective Conan’s Case Closed – Episode ‘ONE’ will get an English dub premiere at the 2019 CharaExpo. This will mark the screening’s North American debut.
For those that don’t know, Case Closed aka Detective Conan surrounds the adventures of a detective who has been chemically turned into a child. Here’s a poster announcing the premiere:
There's got to be some kind of twist that's going to happen with this. I don't know if they're setting up an April Fool's joke now or what's going on, but it seems too strange that they'd suddenly reverse on doing a fourth and fifth season after the show was already renewed and they were even just talking about working on those seasons like a couple months ago or something. Or maybe the two episodes yet to release will secretly somehow each be like a "season" in themselves?
