Review: Red vs Blue “Lights Out”

A possible solution.

Overview:

Tucker reflects on what he’s done, and comes up with a solution.

Our Take:

Tucker and Sis talk, and they have a much needed discussion. Tucker admits that Sis’ outburst towards him was right, and that she brought up a lot of good points. He admits that he was extremely selfish and completely took his newfound power as a way of venting, and apologizes. He also admits that he believes he truly does have feelings for Sis, and in being wrapped up with his own insecurities, he wasn’t able to see through to that. Sis stands by with what she said, but also says that her own prejudices came into play as well. Tucker calling her frigid brought back some old trauma, and so while her feelings were justified, they were intensified in being extremely hurt. With both of them finally able to communicate openly, they start towards repairing their relationship.

With the Washington revelation out, Tucker feels incredibly guilty. Even though it’s not something that he could have prevented, Washington’s attention was taken up by him when he was shot, so Tucker blames himself for Washington’s brain damage. With such desperation, she eventually comes to a conclusion- use the time machines one last time to save Washington.

Theoretically, this could be a good idea. However, if what Atlas says is true, then using the time machines only empower Chrovos. By messing with the past, they could unintentionally be making their nemesis more powerful.

Genkins also makes good on his nature. He’s always been shown to be whimsical and more of a trickster figure, making more like a Loki in the middle of a Greek Pantheon. He seems to be strict with rules and then breaks them instantly afterward, making him an enigma whose words can’t really be trusted from first glance. This only becomes clear when he dispatches Huggins, who came to deliver a report on the Reds and Blues to Atlas. While this doesn’t stop the news from getting to Atlas, it delays it so that he doesn’t have enough time to take action.

It seems a little too early to declare if Huggins is really dead, but Muggins declares that he doesn’t feel her presence anymore. With the gods being unable to interfere, all they can do is watch and hope that the timeline doesn’t collapse any further. With the next episode, we will see if the team manages to save Washington, or if their interference only creates more problems.
