English Dub Review: Garo: The Vanishing Line “Illusion”

Overview (Spoilers Below)

The whole crew is in El Dorado but Gina departs the crew to replenish her weapons. While there, Luke casts an ability that allows the party to do a deep investigation into who this “King” really is. The investigation sees Sophie tap into a VR world where she gets an email that leads the party to a local hacker who apparently has had some history with Sophie’s brother. This guy gives Sophie his data and escapes El Dorado while Luke and Garo fend off some horrors.

Our Take

This week’s episode was all about plot development and it worked. The VR bit was alright but if you confused it with your typical animated drug sequence I wouldn’t blame you. Already the dark and dreary city is a welcome contrast to the several weeks of desert scenery we’ve been getting for a while now. That said, all we really did was eat and then a bit of investigative work, so it’s not like anything was all that action-packed, but the covert ops adventure is fun too, and this one uncovered some juicy depth to the arcs we’ve been on for a while now that should hopefully parlay into some crazy action sequences as we stare off into the latter quarter of the show’s run.
