Amazon Orders “Undone” Animated Dramedy Series
They’re in.
Only a week or so after the producers of BoJack Horseman sold another animated series to Netflix, Tornante Company, Raphael Bob-Waksberg, and WGA winner Kate Purdy have sold a new half-hour adult animated dramedy series called Undone with Rose Salazar attached to star as “Alma”. The series will be Amazon’s first foray into adult animation with the series to drop in 2019 and made available on Prime Video for over 200(!!!) countries. Studios producing the series include Minnow Mountain and Dutch-based Submarine. Noel Bright (BoJack Horseman), Steven A. Cohen (BoJack Horseman), and Tommy Pallotta (A Scanner Darkly) executive produce with Hisko Hulsing overseeing animation production.
The series explores the elastic nature of reality via its main character, Alma. After getting into a near-fatal car accident, Alma discovers she has a new relationship with time and uses this ability to find out the truth about her father’s death. Also cast in the series is Angelique Cabral (Life in Pieces) as Alma’s younger sister.
Our Take
Amazon has tried numerous times to jump into this space, and it sounds like this could be a great way for the streaming service to differentiate its adult animation offerings aside from Netflix or Hulu. Undone sounds VERY ambitious and could open the door to other animated genres getting a look from different networks if proven successful.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
