Titmouse Producing “Little Red” Series Inspired By Legacies Of Malcolm X And Redd Foxx
This one’s got people talkin’.
A new story from Ozy.com features a nice interview with the producers of an upcoming adult animated series being produced by Titmouse in association with Kenan Weaver and Darren Williams that currently has interest from the likes of HBO, Apple, Netflix, Adult Swim (the article says Cartoon Network, but there’s no way this thing airs before 8pm), and FOX.
It’s called Little Red, and according to the article, the adult-themed cartoon follows the exploits of young Malcolm Little, newly arrived in New York City in the waning days of the Harlem Renaissance, and his comic foil (and fellow dishwasher at Jimmy’s) John Sanford.
Our Take
Sounds like a good concept for the series. These boys are doing all the right things, not the least of which is tapping Titmouse studios to do the pilot. That alone shows that Kenan and Darren could have what it takes to help kick off black-produced animation on television. Something tells me a FOX show would be a disaster, but any of the other networks would make a fine home for Little Red.

There's got to be some kind of twist that's going to happen with this. I don't know if they're setting up an April Fool's joke now or what's going on, but it seems too strange that they'd suddenly reverse on doing a fourth and fifth season after the show was already renewed and they were even just talking about working on those seasons like a couple months ago or something. Or maybe the two episodes yet to release will secretly somehow each be like a "season" in themselves?
