Watch The First Trailer For “Neo Yokio” Starring Jaden Smith, Jude Law, Ezra Koenig, and Susan Sarandon
This thing looks crazed.
Set to premiere on September 22 is a brand-new anime series called Neo Yokio featuring a jam-packed lineup of voices like Ezra Koenig (Vampire Weekend), Jaden Smith, Jude Law, and Susan Sarandon with ol’ pal Nick Weidenfeld’s Friends Night studio executive producing with Production IG (Ghost in the Shell) , Studio Deen, and MOI.
Six episodes are going to drop and the series revolves around a demon-slaying operation headed up by Aunt Agatha (voiced by Sarandon) who asks her team of slayers featuring Kaz (Smith), his mecha-butler Charles (Law), and pals Lexy and Gottlieb (The Kid Mero and Desus Nice) as they try to thwart Arcangelo Corelli (Jason Schwartzman.)
The setting of Neo Yokio is that of a recently freed-from-demons war zone that may or may not be legit if we’re to believe Helena St. Tessero (Tavi Gevinson) and her fashion blog.

Our Take
This franchise was teased years ago when FOX ADHD was still around and it’s awesome to see it finally come to fruition after all these years. Netflix gets to reap the benefits with a bunch of major players in starring roles and continuing what will be a strong September for animation for the streaming service that also includes new seasons of Big Mouth (September 29th) and BoJack Horseman (September 8th) that are both slated for arrival.

There's got to be some kind of twist that's going to happen with this. I don't know if they're setting up an April Fool's joke now or what's going on, but it seems too strange that they'd suddenly reverse on doing a fourth and fifth season after the show was already renewed and they were even just talking about working on those seasons like a couple months ago or something. Or maybe the two episodes yet to release will secretly somehow each be like a "season" in themselves?
