English Dub Anime Home Release News: Sword Art Online ; Genocidal Organ
Otakon was privy to two big announcements concerning home release news later this year.
On December 19th, Aniplex of America has announced a home video release for Sword Art Online: Ordinal Scale that will feature the English dub adaptation of the film that was released in theaters earlier this year to much fan fare. The release will be out on DVD, Blu-ray, and limited edition Blu-Ray and will include a new short called “Sword Art OFFline –Ordinal Scale–”.
Funimation has announced that they will be releasing Project iToh’s Genocidal Organ on home video on November 7th and that it will include the English dub adaptation of the film. So far, all we know is that there will be a DVD release, a Blu-Ray/DVD release, and an Ultraviolet release.
While developed countries rely on advanced surveillance to free them from the threat of terrorism, other nations are plagued by genocide within their own borders. Strangely, these massacres all link back to one American by the name of John Paul. Special agent Clavis Shepherd is sent to capture the target, but nothing can prepare this soldier—or the world—for the truth behind humanity’s darkness.

There's got to be some kind of twist that's going to happen with this. I don't know if they're setting up an April Fool's joke now or what's going on, but it seems too strange that they'd suddenly reverse on doing a fourth and fifth season after the show was already renewed and they were even just talking about working on those seasons like a couple months ago or something. Or maybe the two episodes yet to release will secretly somehow each be like a "season" in themselves?
