Review: Regular Show “No Train No Gain”

Earl and the gang are continuing their training with Pops as a vision comes over that showcases Anti-Pops’ growing power. Fortunately, Earl knows all about montages, and he sets a few up to help expedite Pops’ training. Unfortunately, for Rigby and Mordecai they grow weary of the montage music and decide to change the track without Earl’s knowledge and uses a FUCKING DRAGONFORCE SONG! HOLY SHIT, DRAGON FORCE WAS JUST IN REGULAR SHOW!

Turns out, power metal isn’t exactly an aid to Pops’ training and the guys have to scramble to a scene just to end the bit. But, at least Pops got his training in….AND DRAGONFORCE!!!

Our Take

Yes, the episode was a hilarious parody of a common film-making technique used in Regular Show a million times. BUT, the reason why Regular Show is getting this score is because somebody had the presence of mind to use a fuckin’ DragonForce song and sometimes that’s all you need. Not only was “Through the Fire and Flames” used, but it was an important crux to the episode. Slam-dunk.
