Review: Bob’s Burgers “Large Brother, Where Fart Thou?”
Whoever smelled it, is he who has dealt it.
Spoilers Below
There are usually only two storylines in Bob’s Burgers – the kids and Bob and Linda. This episode has three as Tina gets separated from Gene and Louise.
Starting with Tina, she has some major eye contact with Joe Harrison at school, who is on his way to detention. Wanting to be with him, Tina gets herself into detention as well. She spends the entire two hours daydreaming a relationship with Joe. Joe, however, is absolutely clueless about everything going on in Tina’s brain. Even Mr. Frond thinks Tina is being weird in detention as she keeps staring into space and oversharpening her pencil. But, by the time detention is over, Tina has broken up with Joe as the relationship just doesn’t work out. Oh, Tina.
With Tina in detention, Bob and Linda are forced to leave Gene and Louise home alone while they go to get their taxes done. Gene, being the older sibling, is left in charge. But Gene is no match for Louise. As the kids look for ingredients for their 17-layer dip, they come across an ancient cantaloupe in the refrigerator. Louise insists they throw it out the window. Gene argues against it at first but relents eventually. Unfortunately, the melon lands in front of high school bully, Logan, and splashes all over him. Logan threatens to give Louise a Reverse Norwegian Stink Hold, which is a move by a wrestler that puts the victim’s face in the opponent’s stinky arm pit. The bully scares the kids out of the house and corners them at the nearby Lobster Fest. Being an awesome older brother, Gene takes the Stink Hold for Louise. Louise hugs her brother and thanks him for his sacrifice.
Over to the parents. They are being real adults and getting their taxes done, even though it’s the last minute. (As a side note, this may have been a better episode to air in April.) They pretend to laugh at accountant Gerald’s terrible jokes and even eat a couple of cookies that another client baked for him. Said client calls Gerald to inform him that these cookies had marijuana in them. He accidentally gave them to Gerald instead of his mother. Well, Bob already ate one cookie, while Gerald had two and Linda had three. Now they are all too high to leave the office. In their high state, Linda admits that Gerald’s jokes are not funny, which makes him question his life. Bob talks Gerald out of his depression by telling him that his jokes should be for himself and not for others. Bob does his burger pun-board every day because he likes it, even though others don’t. Gerald should do the same with his jokes.
Gene and Louise had the best storyline of the episode. To see the two of them become closer as siblings was amazing. We all know Tina is lost in her own world so there wasn’t anything new to learn about her there. However, Gene and Louise rarely get time together without someone else tagging along. It just goes to prove that, when it comes down to it, Gene is an awesome brother, even though he may not seem like it all the time. You rock, Gene.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
