Review: Steven Universe “Buddy’s Book”

Are you really my buddy?

Connie and Steven take a trip to their local library. As Connie studies for the upcoming school year, Steven goes to look at the books. He manages to find a strange book, which happens to be written by Buddy, the first mate of William Dewey, who founded Beach City. The book tells the tale of Buddy’s travels around the world, meeting the various Crystal Gems. First, he meets Garnet and Pearl. Then he meets Amethyst. Finally, he meets Rose Quartz. Each of the gems give him advice about exploring the world. Rose, however, suggests becoming an author instead of an explorer Buddy, as it turns out, wrote a ton of books. Enough to fill a library.

Filler episodes are hated for a reason. A lot of them are straight up boring. And this is no exception. This adds absolutely nothing to the season’s plot or the world of Steven Universe.
