Review: Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy “Undercover Angle”
Spoilers Below
The Guardians break into the Nova Corp to get a crystal, but are caught on the way out by Titus. As a result, they are given an ultimatum. The Guardians must infiltrate a gang of weapons dealers known as the Black Order whom want to get a hold of Ronan’s hammer and bring it to Thanos. The Guardians actually help the Order find the hammer, but a fight breaks out between the two sides, but Titus shows up with plans of his own. Turns out, Titus only decided to work for Nova Corp so that he can get easy access to shit to sell on the black market, most notably, to The Collector. Titus wants the hammer so he can do just that, so The Order and The Guardians team up to take him down just long enough for Nova Corp to make the arrest.
Our Take
This may have been the best episode of Guardians of the season so far. For starters, the show had introduced Titus as a bounty hunter for the last several weeks, only to lay on us the surprising twist that really the Tiger-dude was just playing us all along for personal gain. Moreover, the introduction of The Black Order could hopefully mean that the series starts to meld the beautiful lineage that The Guardians of the Galaxy has versus just trying to devalue the movie over time with it’s constant callbacks.
The fight scenes were rather exciting, and Ebony Maw’s constant mind tricks were entertaining. As a matter of fact, I thought Maw would have been the most difficult for the producers to kind of factor in to a universe that is largely devoid of magic and mind control, but he did just fine. I would have like to have seen more of The Black Order make more of a contribution. Supergiant would’ve been fun to see, and I think Proxima was very under-served.
Overall, The Guardians of the Galaxy served a strong angle, and I’m hoping we can see more of this.

There's got to be some kind of twist that's going to happen with this. I don't know if they're setting up an April Fool's joke now or what's going on, but it seems too strange that they'd suddenly reverse on doing a fourth and fifth season after the show was already renewed and they were even just talking about working on those seasons like a couple months ago or something. Or maybe the two episodes yet to release will secretly somehow each be like a "season" in themselves?
