Animation on CW Seed set to return with DC Comics’ ‘Vixen’
Last year, CW Seed premiered an online animated comedy entitled Gallery Mallory, but despite the fact that the series showed a BUNCH of promise, we’ve only seen eight episodes and a name change since.
Thankfully, DC Comics is hopefully here to fix all of that, because announced yesterday is a brand-new animated series set in the world of the live-action adapted series’ The Flash and Green Arrow. The CW Seed exclusive is called ‘Vixen’, the superhero alter ego of Mari Jiwe McCabe, whom has the power to take on the abilities of any one animal at a time thanks to a mystical totem.
The series is set to premier in Fall 2015, but a bunch of questions still remains. CW Seed’s initial experiment was to incubate TV shows into eventual full season pickups on CW…does that still remain the case here? If so, this could change the animated landscape on network television, as right now comedy comprises of 95% of all animated television which is a shame when you consider that cable dramas are taking over television.
No word yet on a premier date nor voice cast, but this could be a game-changer for TV animation if done right.

There's got to be some kind of twist that's going to happen with this. I don't know if they're setting up an April Fool's joke now or what's going on, but it seems too strange that they'd suddenly reverse on doing a fourth and fifth season after the show was already renewed and they were even just talking about working on those seasons like a couple months ago or something. Or maybe the two episodes yet to release will secretly somehow each be like a "season" in themselves?
