Review: Spongebob Squarepants ”Kenny the Cat”

Spongebob is a HUGE fan of Kenny the Cat because the feline has all of these records for holding his breath underwater for a really long time and he’s PSYCHED because the cat’s coming to town. Spongebob wants to meet him, but so does Mr. Crabs who really wants to use the big star for financial reasons. Spongebob continues to go around town to all of his friends to tell everyone how much he wants to see Kenny the Cat, so much so that he frightens Patrick!

Kenny comes to town and a big parade takes place, and after Spongebob is able to get his spatula signed by the celebrity, he invites Kenny to Mr. Crabs’ restaurant to meet his boss. Kenny takes off to his room, but Spongebob soon follows and discovers a startling truth…that Kenny is a fake! Spongebob is devastated, but Kenny doesn’t seem like a bad guy so Spongebob agrees to go along with the scam. Sandy shows up and clearly she’s jealous because she used to be the only furry in town until THIS pussy showed up. Our fabled squirrel eventually shows up Kenny, so he heads back home.

Look, you can’t fault Kenny, everyone wants their time in the spotlight! That said, Biz Markie is a natural at this voice-over game so I hope his stint as Kenny is just the start of what I think would be a very good career move for him. Heck, I’d take a bunch more Kenny the Cat episodes in prime-time if that’s ok with you! Even if the plot of tonight’s Spongebob was a tad cliche, Kenny shines through in a hysterical way!
