Could Joseph Gordon-Levitt help us find the next ”Axe Cop” ??

This might seem a little far-fetched but see if you can catch our drift.

It was only maybe a couple of years ago when Ethan Nicolle decided to horse around with his little brother 5-year old Malachai (like all bros do). According to Ethan, it was around Christmas time that Malachai wanted to play ‘Axe Cop’ which would later inspire Ethan to create the character in a popular web comic series that is now an animated television series with a brand-new episode set to air this Sunday Night on FOX @ 11pm EST (check your local listings).

By the time you read this article, I am sure famed actor Joseph Gordon-Levitt (Dark Knight Rises, Inception, Looper) will have posted up another installment on his Youtube channel for Hit Record where he takes fans, artists, and musicians alike and gives them updates on production of his new series Hit Record getting ready to premier next January on Pivot. I typically watch just about all of the updates, but it was yesterday’s that really caught my eye as Joe put out the word looking for animators to animate two different shorts, THE MEAN, MEAN DINOSAUR and TWO FAIRIES. Evidently, these stories were thought up by children’s imaginations just being regurgitated to their parents and so after seeing some of the footage of these kids doing just that  I couldn’t help but liken it to Ethan and Malachai’s similar storytelling practices from a few years ago.

So, could Joseph Gordon-Levitt potentially  help find the NEXT Axe Cop? With Joe’s genius, I would not be surprised, but we may have to wait until next January to find out because that’s when Hit Record premiers. One might think that having a kid’s creation going RIGHT on TV versus how Ethan did it with basically a more methodical and pure approach may be a bit inside. But, in a world where American Idol has launched notable world wide names in music like Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, and Daughtry it may be a moot point to argue how people get noticed so we might as well enjoy the ride, right?

In any case, Hit Record starts in January on Pivot while Axe Cop is all new this Saturday Night on FOX.
