Review: The Looney Tunes Show ‘Ridiculous Journey ‘

Spoilers Below

Taz, Tweety, and Sly decide to head into the snowy forest where they come across a sasquatch! The sasquatch is running away from a sniper named Jacques of whom is now also on the tales of the Looney Tunes traveling troupe. Once the gun-toting crazy is in the rear view, the guys nearly come into a sudden collision a train but thanks to Taz everyone makes it safe. The guys end up boarding the train and, but then Jacques confronts the hell out of them which leads them yet on another merry chase.  Thankfully, Sly is able to use Taz as a scissor and cut the line connecting two train cars which sees the hunter being taken away in one direction and the other guys speeding down a mountain in the complete other direction. Not surprisingly the guys end up in a train and nearly drown but get out.

Taz, Sly, and Tweety run into Henry and the bears of whom are dealing with a bit of car trouble.  Henry’s oldest, Junior decides to take it upon himself to keep the trio much to the chagrin of the old bear.  Fortunately, due to Sly’s quick thinking, the guys are able to escape at the next car wash and head out into the desert. Problem is, deserts are really hot and these guys have no water to drink. Eventually, they pass out but are awaken by a vulture named Beaky who agrees to help them. Unfortunately, Jacques is on their tale despite the fact that they are now travelling in a hot air balloon. This causes Jacques to grab a WWI style bi-plane and take down the balloon. After a brief chase, the three get captured and we find out that Sam and Bugs put out the contract to bring back the animals and that Jacques is actually Sam’s cousin…but who knew??

The Looney Tunes are a great franchise that has so many characters that you can do stuff like this. Instead of doing a typical Daffy/Bugs episode lets put in Tweety, Taz, and Sly! I never understood why Taz and Tweety don’t get used more in this show because I know Tweety merch was REALLY hot at one point (Serious, I can’t even tell you the number of tattoos) and Taz has been a long-time favorite for everyone so much so that he had his own series at one point. That said the premise of this episode was rather standard, but the execution was pretty good. Lots of lefts and rights thrown in and you had to love all the cameos dotted throughout the episode. I did feel that there were too many montages and as such I would’ve liked a little more variety especially coming from this writing team that I know is really, really talented.
