REVIEW: ROBOT CHICKEN “DC COMICS SPECIAL”
Characters from the DC Comics universe join “Robot Chicken” favorites.

Aquaman is literally the butt of all the jokes with the Justice League. You name it and the other guys rip him, everything from not being able to fly to not being able to pick up chicks. Eventually, the underwater superhero has enough of it and decides to join up with the Legion of Doom. The world’s greatest villains have had a rough day at it too, first the LoD had to pick a secret Santa, then Riddler gets all pissy and leaves to try and kill the Justice League on his own but the only one he kills is Sinestro!(Actually, we later find out Sinestro has a staph infection). Add in Two-Face TOTALLY not flushing after he drops a deuce, the “Cold” villains dealing with an identity crisis, and a whole lot else one would think Luthor wouldn’t dare let Aquaman in! Welp, guess what? Not only does Aquaman get in, he leads the Legion of Doom RIGHT into Justice League HQ inside of a huge Trojan horse. That said, the horse gets mistaken as part of the party that the rest of the Super Friends are throwing to show their support of Aquaman and the side spills out and a huge rumble ensues!
Overall the Aquaman skit was really funny and it definitely had a lot of juice in it and you can tell there was a lot of hard work most of which paid off. However, I found very little “Robot Chicken” and more DC Comics, which isn’t a bad thing but I was definitely expecting more of a mash-up as this is more like the game Street Fighter X Tekken where Capcom gave us THEIR interpretations of Tekken characters in a Street Fighter universe. Overall, that’s what this was it was Robot Chicken’s take on DC Comics characters and yes it works but if you had said to just drop Robot Chicken from the title, and instead put Stoopid Monkey Presents: A DC Comics Special, that would have made more sense. That said the skits tonight were AWESOME and the writers did a great job with carrying Aquaman and not just doing the same jokes we might have seen from Family Guy and instead gives us a truly original production featuring some of DC’s best characters doing outlandish shit. Two-Face shitting?? Check. 1960s era Batman mixed with early 90s era Batman: The Animated Series? Check. Superman kissing dudes? Check and Check.
This special really had it all and the voice cast was stellar with Nathan Fillion giving us the Green Lantern we fans so whole-heartedly deserve, Alfred Molina KNOCKING OUT OF THE PARK his interpretation of Lex, and the great Paul Reubens doing a fantastic Riddler. That said, you would have thought that Mark Hamill would’ve taken the Joker one last time for this seeing as how Mark has done the show numerous times but I guess not. Also, I wasn’t crazy about the fact that Seth Green took a majority of the characters like Batman, Aquaman, Robin, the Penguin, and a host of others while everyone else just did one voice with the exception of Tara Strong reprising her role as Harley Quinn(Arkham City) and doing Raven. But, really? Normally, I wouldn’t complain but when the script is written in such a way where you are talking to yourself most scenes, I think that would certainly call for the hiring of one or two more voice actors to man the battle stations.
Despite its pitfalls, it was great seeing Robot Chicken back in the groove of things and this was a great way of doing it. Oh yea, and Steven Tyler ‘s revision of the Aerosmith classic “I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing” was the shittiest thing I have ever heard.
[GRADE: 8/10]
Other Skits:
That’s Bane, Real Characters from DC Universe, Justice League funerals, Lex’s suit, The Nerd “Green Lantern”, Superman dick shot
Best Sketch: Two-Face shitting
Worst Sketch: Does Steven Tyler count?? If not then the Real Characters from DC Universe
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
