Yeardley Smith Talks Politics X “The Simpsons”

In a new interview with Yahoo, Yeardley Smith gives us a taste of what it’s like being part of The Simpsons which is a television series that is so big and important it’s regularly in the news for predictions, a lot of which has had to do with politics. That said, the show’s history with politics goes back decades, especially when former President George H.W. Bush made the now famous comments,”we want Americans to be less like The Simpsons and more like The Waltons.”

Years later, I’m  happy as hell that none of us turned out like The Waltons, but that hasn’t stopped politicians from constantly spouting for and about the longest running animated series in primetime. Everybody from Ted Cruz to Bill Clinton has mentioned the show in some sort of passing, sometimes in derogatory ways. Even with modern ways of communication like Twitter, where The Simpsons are often used as memes for both good and bad.

As for Yeardley, she recently said in another interview that she would love to see Greta Thunberg on an upcoming episode, a public figure that has been on the negative end of Donald Trump’s ridiculous comments, a moment that I’m sure would have a guy who spends most his days reading ratings reports going gaga. Surely he’s probably just jealous that he’s never been asked to be a guest star.

The Simpsons return with new episodes on April 19th only on FOX. Here’s Yeardley attempting to set up shop for future records of upcoming episodes.
