Watch: How Do “The Simpsons” Keep Predicting Global Events?

 

 

So do The Simpsons get inspired by events or do The Simpsons inspire events? It’s hard to say, it seems like every day  the longest-running series in primetime animation just has a knack for predicting the future.

But, how do they do it? Is it just a strew of coincidences gone awry? Or are the producers of The Simpsons just clairvoyant? In this new clip with Entertainment Tonight, two of the show’s actors try to explain it to us.

The Simpsons just wrapped it’s 31st season last-night on FOX with an episode featuring Cate Blanchett that you can see our review for here. A new season of The Simpsons is expected to premiere in September only on FOX with an additional season already ordered ahead of time.

Synopsis:

The longest-running primetime scripted show in television history, THE SIMPSONS exploded into popular culture in 1990 and has remained one of the most groundbreaking and innovative entertainment franchises, recognizable throughout the world. HOMER (Dan Castellaneta), MARGE (Julie Kavner), BART (Nancy Cartwright), LISA (Yeardley Smith) and MAGGIE are instantly identifiable television icons. Rounding out this cast of characters are many beloved Springfield residents, including tavern proprietor MOE SZYSLAK (Hank Azaria) and nuclear power plant owner MR. BURNS (Harry Shearer). The Emmy Award-, Annie Award- and Peabody Award-winning animated comedy will begin its 31st season this year.
