Update: There’s Still No Plans For A “King of the Hill” Revival

Mike Judge Tweeted a photo in support of the #StayHome movement in reaction to the COVID-19 pandemic and how to hopefully “flatten the curve”. The King of the Hill-inspired graphic gives hope that a future of the series is on the horizon, but in a new interview with Comicbook.com, show co-creator Greg Daniels more-or-less pumps the brakes on that every happening. The creators still have the idea that they were pitching to 20th Century FOX before Disney bought the company, but for any real plans, it’s unlikely at this juncture:

“At the moment, there is no plan for it,” Daniels adds. “The studio was sold to Disney now, I guess, so it would be a Disney show, I think, in the future. But we do have a plan for it and it’s pretty funny. So maybe one day.”

Our Take

For my money, we can’t do King of the Hill without the voices of Luanne and Lucky, so I’m totally fine with letting King of the Hill rest in peace. Personally, I’d rather see Judge’s Beavis and Butthead make the comeback.  Disney is already fucking up classic animated franchises, we don’t need to seem them go after a few more of them.
