UK: Big Deal Films Pitching Adult Animated Series To Broadcasters

Oooh.

London hasn’t had a homegrown adult animated series that went more than a season in eons, unfortunately. Typically, puppet shoes are the means in which producers are able to convey topical adult humor through animated means most likely due to the fact that series The Muppets and Spitting Image were arguably way more influential than say South Park which, today, has a late-night Friday spot that probably didn’t do many favors for the franchise overseas.

According to VarietyBig Deal Films Dhanny Joshi has signed a new deal with BBC Studios that will help the production company with resources that would assist in the development of original programming to pitch to local Brit broadcasters. One of them, an adult animated series that we don’t know anything else about now right at the moment, is one of the ideas currently being floated though the article also notes that the series may also do some business in the United States.

We’ll report more if we get any other juicy details. In the meantime, C4 viewers can have their names said whenever The Simpsons air, just go here to get details.
