Tress MacNeille Steps Down As The Voice Of Comic Book Guy’s Wife “Kumiko Albertson”

In the franchise’s effort to make sure all BIPOC characters are voiced by BIPOC actors, The Simpsons have replaced longtime voice actor Tress MacNeille as the voice of Comic Book Guy’s Japanese wife Kumiko. In Tress’ stead will be anime veteran Jenny Yokobori(Akudama Drive). The change went into effect earlier this year with Tress having stepped down after six seasons of voicing the character, where she joins the likes of Harry Shearer and Hank Azaria as other voice actors who have stepped down from voicing BIPOC roles.

Tress is still very much part of The Simpsons as she also voices a bunch of the kids like Dolph, Colin (The Simpsons Movie), and other additional voices on a consistent basis. Check out our review of Jenny’s first episode appearance here.

A new episode of The Simpsons premieres this Sunday Night on FOX @ 8 pm ET/PT, check your local listings.
