Travel Agency is Operating ‘Simpsons’ Tours in Oregon

Springfield

In celebration of The Simpsons‘ 25th anniversary, and on the heels of a much-hyped mural unveiling, the Eugene Cascades & Coast Tourism Agency has created an “Unofficial Simpsons Tour” in the towns of Eugene and Springfield, Oregon. Springfield is the name of the fictional town in which the fictional family lives, and the Oregon location is thought by many (including us) to be the inspiration.

Stops will include the 15-by-30 foot mural (created in part by Simpsons creator & Oregon native Matt Groening) in the latter locale, a bronze statue on the University of Oregon campus that is possibly the influence behind The Simpsons‘ Jebediah Springfield monument, a tavern named Max’s from which Moe’s may have originated, an actual Moe’s Tavern, and the Springfield Museum, which features life-sized versions of the Simpsons characters.

More info, including a tour map, can be found on the Eugene Cascades & Coast Tourism Agency’s website. Already, tourists from 45 countries have participated in the tour.
