TPB Review: Simpsons Comics Game On!

Why do we have these still?

Courtesy: Bongo Comics

At least once a year Bongo Comics is good for a 128 page trade paperback release and this time around it’s a collection of comics from Simpsons Comics #121-125. In it, we get strips that are certainly of the time when it comes to when these guys were writing those issues. Whether its getting a friendly reminder of Mrs. Krabappel or a strip that pokes fun at all of the reality shows that used to abuse eyes on a consistent basis from every major network, you’re getting it here. However, this could be perceived as a double-edged sword. While I love the walks down memory lane concerning Simpsons-lore, some of the jokes can be a bit stale and may not go down as smooth for newer fans.

I also remember the debate about Daylight Savings Time when it was all over the news about whether or not Congress was going to get rid of it. They didn’t, instead we got a slightly updated version thereby chalking up the twice-a-year excuse to be late for work more of a tradition than anything else. This thing costs $17 and with the release featuring a slew of issues that could be had for a fraction of the price over on the Simpsons App, I’m not sure of the value of this release anymore without any “extras” like some of the other animated series comics spin-offs do like alternate covers, stencils, etc. At best it’s for the completionist.
