Toonami picks up Inuayasha: The Final Act

Toonami announced today that it will begin running Inu Yasha: The Final Act beginning November 15. It was also announced that while the series will carry a TV-MA rating, some edits will still be made.

The Final Act is the resolution of the long running Inuyasha series from Rumiko Talkahashi that ran on Adult Swim from 2002 to 2006. The Final Act first ran in Japan in 2009 to 2010 (while being simulcast in subtitled form on Hulu) and was released by Aniplex in English on DVD starting in December of 2009.

Takahashi, who had previous success with Urusei Yatsura, Maison Ikkoku, Ranma 1/2, and others created the series in 1996. It is a romantic comedy/action show about Kagome, a high school girl who travels back to Japan’s feudal era thanks to a well on her family’s temple. There she meets the half demon/half human Inuyasha, demon Hunter Sango and her feline companion Kilala, perverted priest Miroku, and fox demon Shippo  on a quest to collected the broken shards of the Shikon Jewel. The series has spawned an anime series, 4 movies, a light novel, and 3 video games since its debut.
