This Week In Obituaries: Mort Walker
One of the “go-tos” for the Sunday funnies.
Mort Walker, the creator of the popular Beetle Bailey comic strips, passed away on Saturday, January 27th due to complications from pneumonia at the age of 94.
Beetle Bailey launched on September 4th, 1950 and it revolved around a cast of characters stationed at an army base that can best be described as if Homer Simpson were stationed with the cast of M.A.S.H. but way before M.A.S.H. or Homer were even a thought for television. The strip is still going strong today and it’s expected it will continue to do so despite Walker’s passing.
Mort is survived by seven children from his first wife and three step-children to his second wife Catherine Prentice.
Hi Ashley, thank you so much for reading and we love the feedback. Note that on that day we had 14th posts go up and only ten posts show on the front page, so it's possible the preview had already been archived by the time you got to it. One recommendation would be to add our RSS feed to your favorite news aggregator service like Feedly, this way you get all of the latest posts!
