The Guy That Helped Deliver “South Park” Just Left Viacom

And here’s what that could mean.

Before he was the President of the Music and Entertainment Group at Viacom, Doug Herzog was the guy who headed up Comedy Central and helped commission the first season of South Park after having watched a viral animated short entitled Jesus vs Santa.

Welp, as of today, Doug Herzog has officially exited Viacom a week after President-CEO Bob Bakish got his job. According to Variety, this move will see executives like Kent Alterman (the current head of Comedy Central) report directly to Bakish.

South Park just wrapped its 20th season and is one of the largest animated enterprises in the world.

Our Take

Comedy Central seems to be doing ok, but in the animation space, Viacom nets like Nickelodeon and MTV are a mess and need a lot of fixin’. From the looks of it, Bakish has a plan.
