“The Amazing World of Gumball” has a messed up rest of the way before it’s all said and done

Oh, Jesus Christ…TV scheduling is hilarious isn’t it?

The Amazing World of Gumball returns with new episodes tomorrow night @ 730 pm ET/PT on Cartoon Network, but from the looks of it this will effectively be the start of what will be the final burn of new episodes. Despite the fact that the series had been renewed for a sixth and final season from Cartoon Network, The Amazing World of Gumball still has episodes from seasons four and five that haven’t premiered yet. Keeping in mind that 2017 will see the final bow for the franchise (and its creator Ben Bocquelet), the scheduling for Gumball episodes will not go quietly into the night.

Gumball is just the latest franchise to get the plug from Cartoon Network, with Regular Show, Adventure Time, Uncle Grandpa, and more getting shafts. But, Gumball fans might actually have more light at the end of the tunnel than those franchises. Rumors have circulated about a potential feature film that would tie up a bunch of loose ends post Season Six, and the franchise has already dabbled in video games and comic books, so more could be coming from The Amazing World of Gumball, just in different ways.

Oh yea, and Cartoon Network UK then threw this wrench:

“Ben is currently working on season 6 and will then be moving on from The Amazing World of Gumball. We respect people move on from projects but we have a great and talented team behind the show. To date the series has won 28 international awards including 6 BAFTAs, and is also our most viewed Turner-produced show globally with more than 170 million tuning in worldwide last quarter. We have just greenlit another season and will continue producing the show and engaging fans across the world.”

Ugh…
