Streaming News: Close Enough ; Trese

Jay Oliva has given quick updates on two adult animation projects he’s working on with Netflix during a panel spotlighting Zack Snyder for JusticeCon. For starters, his collabo with Snyder, a Norse mythology series, is officially “in production”. The other, Trese, sounds like it’s a bit closer to premiere and more information should be coming sooner rather than later. In Trese, when the cops are stumped, Alexandra Trese is there to protect Manila from threats of the supernatural kind. Ablaze publishing will be handling US-distribution of the print source material.

HBO MAX has announced that Close Enough was placed in the top 25 of most-watched programming for the new streaming service that is also touting just a shade over 4 million subscribers. As for the series, the announcement is a glimmer of decent news in years-long affair that started with a promise of more original adult animation on TBS for a 10 x 30 series and ended with a 8 x 12 with a few more episodes expected to be dropped. No word yet on a series renewal.

From JG Quintel, creator of the Emmy Award-winning “Regular Show,” comes CLOSE ENOUGH, a surreal animated comedy about a married couple, their five-year-old daughter, and their two divorced best friends/roommates all living together on the east side of Los Angeles. They’re navigating that transitional time in your 30s when life is about growing up, but not growing old. It’s about juggling work, kids, and pursuing your dreams, while avoiding time-traveling snails, stripper clowns, and murderous mannequins. Their life may not be ideal but for now, it’s close enough.
